Autobiography of Abuild Simukoko

I was born and raised in Copperbelt, Zambia, in a world where technology fascinated me from a young age. Growing up, I was always captivated by how things worked, especially computers. I would spend countless hours exploring the inner workings of electronic devices, trying to understand their mechanisms. This curiosity ignited a passion in me that would shape my future. From a young age, I knew I wanted to work in the field of technology, and this drive led me to pursue studies in Information Technology and Cybersecurity.

Early Life and Education

As a child, I had a natural inclination towards problem-solving, and technology seemed like the perfect avenue to channel that energy. I embarked on a journey of learning, enrolling in Information Technology and Cybersecurity courses that would lay the foundation for my career in the tech industry. These fields offered me the tools to not only understand technology but to secure it, which became my true passion.

Professional Journey

My career began as an IT Technician, a role that allowed me to dive deep into maintaining and troubleshooting IT systems. It was during these early years that I developed a keen eye for identifying system vulnerabilities. As I worked, my interest in cybersecurity grew, and I decided to specialize in it. I took on the role of a Cybersecurity Evangelist, Offensive Security Consultant, and Information Security Analyst. My work involves securing IT systems, identifying vulnerabilities, and implementing robust security measures to safeguard organizations from cyber threats.

In addition to my work in cybersecurity, I am the CEO of Aright Futures Foundation, an NGO I founded to drive change and foster growth in various sectors. At Aright Futures Foundation, I have led several initiatives aimed at creating opportunities for young people in Zambia, particularly in technology and education.

Significant Projects and Achievements

Throughout my career, I have worked on several impactful projects that have shaped my professional journey. One of my most rewarding experiences was developing comprehensive security frameworks for organizations, strengthening their ability to protect against potential cyberattacks. I also led penetration testing initiatives for various businesses, helping them identify critical vulnerabilities and providing actionable recommendations to mitigate risks.

Among my notable achievements is the creation of a PHP-based audio-to-text converter, combining my programming skills with my desire to develop practical solutions that benefit people.

Another proud moment came when I launched 1zedjobs.site, a platform designed to connect job seekers and employers in Zambia. This project is particularly close to my heart because it’s an initiative that can truly change lives by providing people with better opportunities for employment. I’m now expanding the site with additional features, like a resume builder and an analytics dashboard for employers.

Community Engagement and Blog

A strong advocate for education and continuous learning, I created a blog, abuildsimukokothetechman.blogspot.com, to share my knowledge on topics related to cybersecurity, programming, and the latest trends in technology. Through this platform, I aim to educate and inspire others in the tech community, fostering a culture of growth and innovation.

I also strive to make a positive impact on my community. Through Aright Futures Foundation, I have launched initiatives like a mentorship program that connects tech professionals with aspiring students in rural Zambia. I’ve also created ZamSmartEdu, an educational program that empowers individuals with financial literacy, especially for those who lack access to formal financial education.

Personal Interests and Legacy

Outside of my professional life, I enjoy coding, developing WordPress sites, and staying updated with the latest developments in technology. I also like to challenge myself with puzzles and exploring new programming languages. Sports have always been a big part of my life, and I founded Innovation United FC, a football team that blends creativity, leadership, and excellence both on and off the field.

I come from a legacy of leadership, as I am the grandson of the late Dr. Patrick Chamunda, a distinguished figure who served as the President of the National Olympic Committee of Zambia (NOCZ), Chairperson of the National Sports Council, and a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). His passion for excellence and service continues to inspire me in my work and in my community involvement.

Future Aspirations

As I look ahead, my goal is to continue growing as a cybersecurity expert and contributing to the development of innovative solutions to enhance the digital security landscape. I am passionate about mentoring the next generation of tech enthusiasts and promoting cybersecurity awareness. Ultimately, my vision is to create a safer digital environment for individuals and organizations worldwide, while also empowering others through education and access to technology.

My journey is far from over, and I am excited about the future. I remain committed to driving change, inspiring innovation, and making a positive impact in every endeavor I undertake.
